Sunday inspiration Posted by Na on Mar 04, 2012
I found some pics of some awesome things recently on the net, and thought I'd share. I also hope other people share pics on this thread of stuff they've found/seen... like a sort of weekly inspirational thread.

Performing at the NZ Fringe Festival this year is 'pulp fiction' - marionette style. The puppet is pretty amazing

I googled for the company website, and they have a huge image of the same puppet on their home page

A company in my own country (located in Western Australia) has some amazing costumes for parades, including furry snails that look like they could have come from a Henson Creature Workshop build (that is, in that style). Replete with hard brown shells and eyes that light up! Check out the 'shows/beasties' page for their animatronics petting zoo

And not puppetry related, but certainly worth a look:

A site with public domain material listed on it, including a lot of obscure film, audio, images and texts. It's a great place to find some inspiration.

Thanks for sharing Na. Always up for being inspired - particularly on a Sunday!

You're welcome!

Love the pulp fiction puppet! What a great pose.

Couldn't get the second link to load this morning. Maybe the site is just down for a bit.

That last one is pretty cool. I wonder how much of this work would eventually be lost if not for site like that. Granted it may still be out there in someones attic but who would ever see it if not for them.

No probs - Shawn, if you check the thread I made on public domain copyrights, you'll see a few more suggestions. The Wayback Machine for instance is an amazing resource of archived materials; surprisingly enough I never noticed it
Plus the link for the Public Domain Review has other resources and a guide (it can be found via the about page) on how to find public domain resources online. All amazing stuff.
