Sewing machine problem! Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Mar 26, 2012
Has anyone had any experience with a Singer stylist sewing machine model#7258

I'm trying to fix this machine for my sister. It has a error code C4 ...according to the user manual it states...machine is locked up due to thread entanglement with bobbin case or rotation interrupted forcibly.Turn off power switch and eliminate the problem that caused the machine to stop. I cleaned the bobbin case and there is no visible thread blockage. Checked upper thread and it is OK to.I need to find out to fix this... contacted singer support and waiting for return email. Called telephone support but had 20 people waiting.

I found this information. http://www.fixya.com/support/t10722083-singer_stylist_7258_giving_e4_error
Also, if the bobbin carriage is plastics , check to make sure it's not damaged. Replace the needle.
Despite what one person said you should not use canned air on your machine, because they have moisture. Use a vacuum or a vacuum blower.
Hope this helps

Thanks Julie! I did everything but replace the bobbin. I really hate plastic used in sewing machine parts. I Love the old solid metal machines. I'll keep working on it!

I know what you mean. I have a really nice machine, have never broken a needle, but the bobbin carriage broke after one year, $35 to replace. I use the machine a lot, but they shouldn't break from normal use. I do like the fact that it's a drop in bobbin, doesn't ever jam like my old side bobbin.
I didn't notice it a first because it was just cracked, but the machine wouldn't sew because of it.

Hope you find the problem. Tension problems are so frustrating. A pair of tweezers helps to pull thread out if you can see it. Since I got an Elna 25 years ago I've had few tension problems like I had with Singer and White machines, I almost gave up sewing they were so much trouble.

Bobbins are seriously my arch-nemesis. I can't stand the use of plastic in machines either, it's go metal or go home, as plastic components tend to break. Bobbins are fickle things , I totally feel everyone on this threads' collective pain right now.

Machine problems are always icky. I've been using an Elna Stella since I learned how to sew at age 7. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Thanks Doc................ I finally talked with someone from Singer customer support, got lucky and only had to wait for (9) people in front of me.They informed me that I indeed would have to take it in for service.Fortunately we have a service center in my hometown.............
