I was just doing a little hunting for a question sent via my website, and it turns out you can buy FAO Schwarz Whatnot kits on Amazon. Great news for those who asked and couldn't get international shipping - like me.

It looks like these are the ones sold at Toys R Us. From what I've read they are smaller than the ones you can get at FAO Schwarz. Plus the material they used for their "skin" is not fleece but some other fabric so that the accessories can be put on with velcro. Plus, they are about 65 Dollars at Toys R Us.

Ah, ok. Not being in the US and seeing Toys R Us products, I didn't know that those were the same ones. Still, it's nice to know that I could order one myself if I were so inclined instead of going through backchannels.

I've looked at these at Toys R Us and can confirm they are a good deal smaller than their full sized cousins at FAO Schwarz.
