Looking for advice on flocking please! Posted by DrMegan on Apr 14, 2012
I'm looking to add flocking to my skill set, and I've been doing a little reading online. I'm wondering if someone here has some practical advice.
I have a bunch of questions. Is there a brand of magic tool that you prefer? A materials source you could recommend? A fantastic story of craft gone wrong that's enlightening and amusing? What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were starting your first project?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Hey Megan...good luck with flocking! I used to flock a good bit when I worked with the company that designs and decorates the Bellagio in Vegas for the holidays. Our flocking was on HUGE scenic pieces, but I would assume that flocking is flocking, no matter the size of the object you want to make fuzzy. My only advice to you is to work fast so that the adhesive doesn't dry before you are finished applying the flock. Also, understand that no matter how good of a mask you are wearing, you're going to have flocked boogers for the rest of the day Also, wear long sleeves. That stuff gets all over you and boy, is it itchy! And make sure that you are flocking in a secure area with little-to-no breeze. If you have a little wind blowing, the flock will go everywhere and you'll be finding it in your house for years to come.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I thought about trying it but my wife told me to get the flock out of here. *RIM SHOT*
