It is a wonder that you can choose a fur out of oll the kinds you have there

I've had to ban myself from the store more than once, believe me! They have remnants as a well, with sick, disgusting, I'm-ashamed-I-paid-so-little prices.

I bought 2 yards of the blue fur I used for Casey here for $4 a yard! Madness.

Yeah, she is! Great expression. And if I have the money to go overseas and we decide to travel to Minneapolis, I'll let you know, Dr. Megan. I would LOVE to see the lab!

Angel, there is a wholesale fabric my mom and aunt used to go to in downtown Houston.  They also sold foam and other goodies.  I'll have to ask them what that place was called.

Casey is great. I really like the hair! Looks like dreads. What did you make it out of?
Re: Re: Fur goldmine! Posted by DrMegan on Apr 18, 2012
Casey's hair is some yarn produced under the Martha Stewart brand, sold at JoAnn's.

Casey's final home is to be a therapy puppet at a local school, and they have a really high minority enrollment. My friend Samm is of mixed race, and we've had several discussions about "white hair" vs "black hair" in terms of how smoother, less kinky hair is seen as more desirable. Since there's lots of kids with hair more like Samm's than mine, I made a conscious design choice to make her hair more textured than smooth.

I used two skeins of yarn, so in the end, Casey's hair was more expensive than her fur!

Casey rocks!  Love the hair ;D

@Joel, I'm not really near Houston.  I'm about an hour outside of Dallas.

Hey there Kelso, you snuck in without stopping by the "Introduce Yourself" board. So welcome to Puppets and Stuff! I see that you're planning a Muppet themed wedding. Very cool! You've probably already seen this but if not here's another example of a puppet inspired proposal/wedding.

You'll find plenty of help and advice here at P&S as you and your bride-to-be begin your journey into puppetry! I look forward to seeing some photos of what the two of you create.

FYI I tried stopping by your blog but it wouldn't load in my browser for some reason. Could be something glitchy on my end but I thought I'd give you the heads up.

I have yet to go to Mendels here in San Francisco. I'm kinda scared...
