Puppeteers of America Southeast Puppet Jamboree Posted by S. Fox on Apr 18, 2012
Dates: September 13 - 16, 2012
Location: Rock Eagle 4-H Center, near Eatonton, Georgia
Registration: Now through August 15, 2012
WWW: http://www.pofasoutheast.org/jamboree
What is it? The PofA Southeast Puppet Jamboree is a potlatch-style puppetry retreat being held this year in place of a more traditional regional puppet festival. The Jamboree is a by-the-puppeteers for-the-puppeteers event that is relying on everyone pitching in to help keep the costs minimal. While this means that no one will be paid for performing a show or presenting a workshop, most attendees should be able to attend the Jamboree for just under $200 (not including travel expenses). That might seem a little high, but keep in mind that your registration fee will cover event fees, lodging, and meals -- most traditional festivals charge over $200 just for event fees!
This year's Jamboree will be a two-day, three-night event, starting with dinner on Thursday, September 13th, and ending with breakfast on Sunday, September 16th. That's three nights of puppetry fun and excitement all in the middle of the central Georgia woods. There's no hustle-and-bustle here -- everything will be easy going and laid back, and you can be sure that some of our more ingenious southeast members (you know who you are) will be pulling together any number of off-the-cuff activities in an environment like this. For the more precision-oriented, there will be scheduled events, including shows and workshops, but there will be ample time in-between for you to create your own brand of fun.
