Out of the Corner Posted by zainan on May 05, 2012
I decided I would step out of the corner where I have been lurking and introduce myself. I am Scotty. I am a comedian/ventriloquist and am building my first puppet. Well, first foam puppet anyway. I knit my first one, (Lugnut the Dragon) I also built my own vent figure (Carter). Wanting a puppet in the style of Tyler Mason's Romeo or Jeff Dunham's Peanut, (Human or at least human proportioned lol)I have been pouring over these forums like the biggest test of my life depended on it. I finally scrounged enough money to start construction of my puppet yesterday. It isn't turning out as well as I wanted but beings this is my first foam puppet it is turning out better than I had hoped. Thank you everyone for all the help you give us newbies by sharing the tips and tricks of your trade/hobby.

Hello and welcome! Good luck with the puppet - you'll find you get better over time and practice.

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff................ I agree it does get easier as time goes by and you build more puppets. If we can help in any way just ask.

Welcome! It does get easier, but I understand about how expensive it is! If you keep at it, you might want to pay a visit to the dollar store. I've found some great stuff to use for puppets there!

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff! Yup I agree with all my fellow puppet folk who have already made comments. It gets easier with practice. I know I'm never very patient with the learning process myself.

I have to add Lola that I don't hit the dollar store very often but my wife rolls her eyes every time we go to Target because I immediately go into the dollar isles there to see if there's anything I might want!

Welcome, and have fun. I hope we will see pics of the knitted one, as well as your first foam friend.
