Puppetry Exercises Posted by squirrely on May 31, 2012
Could any one give me some Puppet Exercises?  I've done many lip-syncing with my puppets with songs and counting to 100.  The counting I saw on youtube-Jim Henson Workshop - Muppets Counting. I've done walking, running, and dancing with puppets.  I've done puppet face emotions exercises too.  Anything else?  Thank you.

How about exercising your puppet brain with improv.  I remember a tape of sound effects where the puppeteers had to react to the changing sounds on the fly, pratice thinking fast on your feet. How about puppet mime where you have to use actions rather than words to tell a common story.  I saw two puppeteers who did skateboarding puppets, they were awesome.

Here is video 1 in a series of puppetry basics, you can access the rest of them from there.

I've used these with my team and they were very helpful.

I try to walk every morning and do a few simple yoga exercises.  Staying in shape really does help your performance.

Puppet Aerobics and  , Armed Forces Puppet Training, (www.creativemin.com)
are both great.  If you can find the training excercises from the old Puppet Productions, it was good too (Puppets, Inc. does not have it listed).

When you type in OWS it is supposed to redirect to Creative Ministry Solutions. However, the link leaves the "i" out of creative.  I emailed them a couple weeks ago about this, and they thought it was my computer (I've tried it on several).
