Greetings from NorCal Posted by Shunaka on Jun 06, 2012
Hello Everyone,

I’m fairly new to puppeteering in a way; I have been building and performing in fursuits for a while.  Some consider fursuits a kind of puppet with the performer inside the puppet instead of controlling from the outside.  I’m not sure if that definition holds but, I’ve certainly modeled enough foam and fur! Anyway, I’m moving away from the costumes and now starting to work with puppets.

I’ve occasionally visited puppeteering in the past but really haven’t done much with it.  Now with what’s being done in an adult setting (Like Avenue Q and Mongrels), I’m finding it a much more interesting art.

Anyway more on that later.

I have images of my latest puppet on my blog at www.furville.com

Looking forward to chatting with everyone here!  Awesome puppets in the Gallery.

Greetings back from Schl-Hol... (That's Schleswig-Holstein, northermost part of Germany: North Sea, Baltic Sea, Denmark, River Elbe )
I really like your loony lynx- I've seen the tails, do you have feline ears, too?

Welcome to Puppets and Stuff............... great job on the fursuits. Perhaps at a later date you can give some tips on making a fursuit.

Welcome to PandS Barry!

I consider mascot and fursuits as puppetry. I don't think anyone has ever accused Big Bird of not being a puppet.

Look forward to seeing you around and thanks for your input on the other thread!

Hi Rikka,

Glad you like Looney =)

I don't usually make ears,  so many crafters already do them and they're real easy to make yourself.  Basically they're just two triangles of fur one (the inside) slightly smaller then the other sewn together.  Sew them on a cap or hat and you have your ears.

Being from Germany do you know about Eurofurence?  There would probably be dealers selling ears there.  As I understand it that convention also has a puppet track.

I should, I am a bit looney myself!
I should do ears for my best friend sometime, I guess. She it the total cats lover (I made a cat woman for her once).
No, I have to admit I never heard of the Eurofurence before (I am more into Fimo, less into fur), but I've bookmarked it. No idea if I get to Magdeburg (never been there, but now I've a reason... ) but I'll see.
