I'm almost 100% sure I've seen this woman live in South Korea. The performance is amazing, and even better live.

There seemed to be a couple of women on youtube that were doing this stuff.  They both looked similar.  So many interesting ways to do puppetry out there.

Yeah I thought it might have been someone else because from memory her hair colour was different; but then I watched the video some more and I'm pretty sure it's the same act.

I admit I never saw Jim Henson's Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas back in the late 1970s (in fact I don't even think it ever screened on NZ television). Anywho ...

I needed to see that today, thanks.  I am wondering where all the puppeteers bodies are in some of those scenes.  Never saw a fish puppet actually in water, that was interesting. Wish I could see behind the scene shots to see the mechanics of the performance. Such creativity in so many tiny touches. Nice treasure.

If I remember right, Emmett Otter was done on a raised platform - they built sets and props onto the platform, allowing them to work from below, at the sides, and above... Ah yeah, I'm right:

They had behind-the-scenes shots of them working on the set at the Atlanta (Georgia) puppet centre, if you ever get that way.

Wow thanks for the links, I need that DVD with behind the scene shots, I am putting in a request for Mother's day.

You're welcome! I remember it clearly actually because it was one of the exhibits that had me wanting to learn more about it. I think I should put that DVD on my list of things to buy too!

... Isn't it funny though how we can so easily forget that TV and film is done on a set and possibly not even on the floor that you're standing on? It reminds me of all the pics of The Dark Crystal where Henson is shown standing on the set with his arms in the air - you really fall for the idea that all of the puppets are worked from the ground up.
