My name is Elana, and I'm an actress. I started to get into puppeteering when I was a teen. Weird story, I had this purse that was a stuffed animal, and to make my friends laugh I would manipulate him and stuff. Everyone said I should be a puppeteer, but being an actress, I never really thought too much on it. I went to New York to study musical theater, and ended up getting casted in a company called Wildlife Theatre. They did skits and puppet shows for kids in Central Park, and in order to work there I was required to learn puppeteering. I got hooked. I bought a Folkmanis doggy and I named him Melbit. And the craziest thing happened. He took on his own personality. It was kinda creepy, but fun at the same time! Anyways, after a while I lost the fervor for it as being an actress I had other parts. Then...

I got casted in Avenue Q... But I play Christmas Eve, so I didn't get to do any of those wonderful characters. One day, during a run-though, I was alone in the green room with all the puppets. For some reason I was drawn to Rod.

So I put him on and started playing around. And then it got weird LOL, which is pretty much my world. I had a conversation with him.

Me: Hey, Rod...Whats happenin?

(Rod stared at me, his expression troubled)

Me: What's wrong?

Rod: It's nothing...

Me: Go on.

Rod: Well, the show will be over after the 23rd, and it's back in the box again...I HATE THE BOX! I only ever get to come out during a show!

Me: That sucks. I'm sorry. And you're such a cool puppet, too. I should steal you!

Rod: Why? So you can throw me into the back of the closet and forget about me like you did that poor poor Melbit!?

Me: Um...

Rod: Yeah, that's right, Missy. Puppets talk. I know alllllll about you and your little "acting career". Did you ever stop to think about MELBIT'S feelings? Huh? Huh?

Me: Um...

Rod: Yeah, that's what I thought. I'd rather go back in the box than become A PUPPET UNAPPRECIATED!!

Me: Jeez. I'm sorry.

Rod: Yes, well you should be. Now put me down. You're duet with Kate Monster is coming up.



 

 And I want to get more into all of it. I have some weird ideas for You Tube videos and stuff.

Welcome Elana! I think you'll find that "weird" is a relative term. Here I think you'll be a little more like "normal". Loved the video! You gave Melbit a great personality and voice! See you round the forum!

Hi Elana, I love the voice of Melbit. Very similar to Lamb Chops. You should do some more vids. I am sure Melbit has a great personality that is just begging to be expressed.
Billy, I did not notice the birds... we have a patio full of bird noises, as you may have notice, on my  youtube channel.so I just don't hear them any  more
