Hello! Posted by marionettics on Jun 10, 2012
Hi folks... Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from the UK, been collecting marionettes and working with marionettes for a while now and with a little more free time and a growing collection of marionettes I've decided to try to take things a little more seriously. I plan on getting out and performing with some of my marionettes over the next few months and figured it would be a good idea to join a forum like this.
I have a youtube channel where I'll be uploading some videos of my marionettes/ performances over the comming months.... Right now I have a couple of little 4 string marionette videos up (never used youtube and wanted to make sure I knew how to upload stuff without spending too much time/ effort on it all). I'll try and sort out the youtube link so anyone can check 'em out if they want. I should add that they arent really indicative of the sort of marionettes I use, just a couple of little 4 stringers I was playing around with as a test run, but they are good for a quick giggle.
Anyway thats enough talking from me.

Welcome to PandS! Make yourself at home. I see you figured out how to add your YT id to your profile so that it showed up as a link on your post and profile. You can also embed videos into a post real easy just by copying and pasting the Share URL in the post like this.
Both puppets are very neat looking. They look like Sicilian rod marionettes in style. I assume these are some you collected or am I wrong and are these two you made?

Just a collector.... My skills aren't up to the job of making marionettes to the standard I want, so building up a nice collection is slow and expensive! The two videos I have up right now are, like you say, Sicilian rod marionettes, really simple designs but great fun. The imp character (I think its the child catcher from pinnochio) is actually hinged at the knee with a paperclip, which the feet are then set into. Not really built to last maybe, but incredibly cheap and still do the job.
Most of my marionettes are 10-16 string singing/ dancing marionettes that I have either seen and liked or had commissioned.
Thanks for the welcome all.
