Shadow puppet portable stage Posted by titere on Jun 11, 2012
Hi all!  It has been a time!
I am planning a workshop for small children on shadow puppets. At the end of the workshop, we should perform with the puppets they make. Our public is not big, so I need a small to moderate size stage, that is easy to put up and down. Any ideas? Thanks so much...

Hello!

I have a couple of ideas, but I suggest you check out this info first:

It's a screen using PVC pipe.

That's probably the easiest one, but if you'd like some other suggestions let me know.

Since it is a work shop maybe they could also make their own screens. I know at one time we either discussed making workshop screens out of a cardboard box and white tissue paper. Could be I am remembering another life.   A cereal box is a good size and you simply cut out an opening and cover with the white tissue paper. Even if there was not time for all the kids to make on you could perhaps make one of these in class so they could see how it is done and then do it at home.

Ah Shawn... have you embedded a secret camera in my workspace?

This is almost what I'm working on right now... cardboard box, hole cut out, with some polypropylene sheeting for the screen itself. (Normally I'd use silk but for this project I need a clear screen rather than a white one)

Dang you learned my secret!

I had a feeling there was something awry when the flower vase started making whirring noises!
