Charolette - The Spider Puppet Posted by Lola on Jun 21, 2012
Made her for my friend's birthday. I let her name her, so she shall hence forth be known as Charolette. She had individually wired arms, with slots for rods in the second arms from the top. She also has poseable eyes. With all the feathers, etc...she took me about a month to make.
Here's a pic:
I won't bore you with more pics, but if you would like to see them, and a short video of her in action, you can pop over to the facebook page I made for my puppets: https://www.facebook.com/ChatterboxPuppets

Cool! I love this old lady hat on a spider!
Re: Charolette - The Spider Puppet Posted by Lola on Jun 22, 2012
Thanks everyone! The teeth are fleece covered foam that I embroidered.
The hat is made out of bias tape. I saw something similar at Whole Foods the other day, came home, found a tutorial, and it took about 20 minutes. (And about 4 1/2 yards of tape) Pros are that I already had the tape, and I could make it the size I wanted. The cons are that if I wanted to make it again, I might not be able to find the tape of clearance, and it took a ton of thread.
I made the flower from free-handing petals from purple fleece, and the middle is just a black button I pupped on.
I'm starting my week long puppet building class on Monday, and can't wait to learn all kinds of new stuff! Fingers crossed!

I thought it was a straw hat and had to go back and take a closer look! Ingenious!

Wow, I'm the same and thought the hat was straw - great job!
