Are there any good tutorials on carving foam , and what tools do you use?

I have one method to help with smoothing things out once you get the basic design worked out....

Hope this gives you some ideas...the other method is a good sharp pair of scissors and a lot of patience.

Thanks Billy! I really did cover a lot of materials in the old days when I did a weekly live show...man, the memories!!  It is nice to go back and look at them now and then.  I miss the live shows...but hey life gets busy!

Can this method be used on styrofoam as well?

Yes you can use this method on Styrofoam. Both can also be cut or carved with serrated kitchen knives and with electric knives.  Small finger nail clipper scissors are good for clean up and detail work.

Thanks Shawn,
I am designing a viking helmet, I was going to purchase a 8" stryro foam ball. But more expensive than I expected. So I bought a 1/2 flora foam ball and scooped out the inside with a spoon. LOL
