Painted Eyes Posted by melaine9 on Jun 26, 2012
I decided to test paint eyes on fleece. I began with two coats of gesso white, followed by one coat of shiny white. Using a hair drier to speed up drying time. 100_0213

Then I applied my base color for my eye , while the color was still wet, I painted tiny lines of white. Like a  starburst from the center out for highlights. 100_0214

Once dry I painted the pupil , dried it, used white dot for highlight. dried. Then coated the whole eye with clear nail polish to give it a nice shine. (about 3 coats, heavy)

Great job........ I like the finished product. Is this a technique you use when making dolls?

Interresting technique. Seem's that more and more artists out there are painting what they need on fabric, which makes a very interresting product in itself. Good job Melaine!

Yes it is. I use latex paints you can buy at walmart or any craft store. I just wanted to see if I could incorporate it onto a puppet as well. Thanks for the compliment !!
