I also integrate metal bits (such as washers) into my puppets...for example the palm of the hands parts of the face to hold glasses on a puppet.  This makes it easy to have puppets hold props in live productions or situations..I do use earth magnets which are very strong...I just attach them to the items that I need them to hold.  I like this idea as well for making personal puppets good job lovable puppet pals.
