Breaking the RULES on making a puppet...cheap as well! Posted by StiqPuppet Productions on Jul 10, 2012
This is a very different way of making a puppet...however as I always say there are no RULES in art...this guy has no lessons at all and just created it in his own style...now I will say that this will only work well with thick fur covered puppets not fleece or low pile fur.  But this is a great way to get around not using foam as well he has some nice ideas on how to make Muppet Style eyes really cheap.  Enjoy!

Pretty cool building method at high speed. I'm sure some folks wished the video was a bit slower.........I'm glad I know how to build a puppet LOL. This is a smart way of using recycled items.

You are so right... there are no rules! If there are rules then they are meant to be broken in this case.   I remember one of my first hand in mouth puppets was stuffed out with poly foam in the head to hold it's shape. I figure if it works for stuffed animals it works for puppets.

You can watch it with your sound turned off, he doesn't talk. That way you can miss the profanity laced music.

I remember one of my first hand in mouth puppets was stuffed out with poly foam in the head to hold it's shape.

The first puppet I ever made uses fiber-fill to stuff his head. He remains my favorite puppet, used for twenty years in church services to talk with the kids. I didn't have a clue how to make a puppet, so in my ignorance, I made MacGillicuddy while watching the Muppets on tv.

If I ever have to divest myself of my puppets, I'll hang on to Mac, just for nostalgia's sake. He may have a stuffed head, but as far as I'm concerned, he's all heart.

"For the pupils, I take the eyes out of stuffed animals My girlfriend finds this very depressing"
I remember once that I was in a hurry to finish some puppets. I went to the one dollar shop with my girlfriend, buyed some stuffed animals and, because of the feeling of hurry, I teared the eyes with my teeth while walking back home... she still remembers that day.

Awesome video. My first thought was "Oh dear, what is this going to really look like" and went to "WOW!" at the end. Thanks for sharing!

I totally agree with you Gabriel...I was blown away myself and I hope this helps people who say they don't have much money that they can still make a awesome puppet on a string budget.

@jorge I can't do it myself...I could never pull an eye off a teddy...I am weak...lol.
