So... we had the last exteriors filming day for me as the Grey Wizard Rudolf ... a month ago now (yikes how time flies)I thought you might like to see how the nose goes on. No puppets in this one, but they are there as part of it all (a glimps of one or two right at the end I think). My scenes in the caves are also in the can as they say. Get ready for the next behind the scenes, when I turn white. You can see why my wife is keen to get this over with. I look a sight first thing in the morning, I know.

I really do love these behind the scenes videos! What did you use as your adhesive... did I miss it?
Re: Lord Of The Donuts Posted by pagestep007 on Dec 02, 2012
Glad you like the vids Shawn. The adhesive (the shot where I explained that, got cut as it was a terrible shot) is Elmers glue/PVA/white woodworkers glue. It works OK , but it does have its quirks.

Don't you know that you are supposed to buy all this expensive stuff if you want to do something like this, like special glues and make up? That is what I love about your videos. You see something you want to do and you just make it happen with what ever you can get your hands on. No limitations!

Thanks for the compliments Shawn. I might let the secret slip though, that it can get a little depressing at times because it would be really nice to have some of the fancy stuff occasionally, and an actual budget. However, I suppose it is this way, so that hopefully I can inspire others to have a go whatever their situation. I also suspect that in the future, this will be the way things will go. Equipment is/will be a non issue as everyone will have access to it, but talent and content will determine success, in stead of budget as it seems to be now. Look at the BoozeBandPuppets....I put my money on them, and Patsy Hoolahan...and PoorFishy, and a number of others out there. Disney may own The Muppets now... but they don't have exclusive rights over talent and ability.
Yes, I learnt not to let people tell you something cannot be done, if you can clearly see a way of doing it. And, that in turn gives way to looking for ways of doing things that others think aren't possible. Problems have solutions. You just need to find them.

Here's the latest behind the scenes. A little of the caves.. then having finished that....extreme makeover ...the white beard. The white wig at the end was too white in the end, so we have gone with another one...and we started exteriors with Rudolf the White today, before I get stuck in a commercial center as Saint Nicolas at the end of the week .

The whitening turned out great! Man you really suffer for your art. Two trips to the salon!

Wow you really throw yourself into this.
Re: Lord Of The Donuts Posted by pagestep007 on Dec 05, 2012
well... I had this idea to go for white, when I started the project, but had no real idea how that was going to happen. It just unfolded this way. This whitening actually was on someone else's tab, for another job, but came just at the right time for us. We still have a chunk of filming to do, but the last couple shoots went well. After the next couple blocks, it's puppets all the way.
