puppet stands? Posted by yalaurie on Jul 18, 2012
What do you all use to to build and/or display puppets? I am giving a puppet to my niece for her birthday and I wanted to give her a stand with it. I usually build and display mine on sewing machine thread holders like these http://www.allstitch.net/product/single-spoolcone-embroidery-thread-stand-4412.cfm But, the metal rod comes out and I don't want my niece to poke her eye out. I also have used paper towel holders but they are a little too short. Any other suggestions for pre-existing products that are kid proof?
Thanks!

Someone suggested this a long time ago, and I found that it worked great. Walmart has funnels for adding oil to the car, that are about 18" tall. They only cost about a buck, and work very well as puppet stands.

This link isn't to Walmart, but it's the funnel I use. http://www.blitzusa.com/products/oil/Funnels/pofssf.htm

Stand for Making Puppets
Here is an idea that I use it's very cheap and easy to build. Its from Stiqpuppets on this site. He has wonderful ideas. Also empty 2 ltr. soda bottles, pringels cans.

It costs about $5 to bulid one and you can take it apart when your not using it. Glad it helped.

Think I'll maybe build myself one of those stiqpuppet stands - who would've though PVC piping would have so many uses!
