Retiring from Puppetry Posted by Gail on Aug 08, 2012
I turned in my resignation for writing scripts, managing puppet team, and being a puppeteer. I will miss it terribly. Maybe I can get all those incomplete puppets done now. I almost have a frog I have been working on for 2 years done. Just made him a tiny fedora hat, I feel very sucessful, that lifted my sprits.

Well if you are still going to be building then you aren't really retiring are you? I do hope that means you'll still be stopping in.

Is everything else okay? Hope you can still build!

Retiring from performing, I plan to still build. I have been sick ever since I stopped doing shows in June, almost fainted in the last show. Just diagnosed with diabetes and trying to adjust to that extra work. I will definitely be stopping by, where else would I go, this is the place to be.

I would say you're not so much retiring from puppetry as changing your role within the field. Once you've truly gotten into this art I think it remains a part of you and your life forever. So you may not be performing right now, but as you say you'll still be building. Time to sink your teeth into some of those projects you've always wanted to do but haven't had time for!

You know what they say, when you close one puppet door you open another! You will do well with any new puppet adventure.

Thank you for the kind words. I am thinking that now I have the luxury to make puppets just I would love, instead of trying to meet someone else's expectations or deadline. But then those deadlines kept me moving forward. I love the inspiration I get from reading about other's projects on this site. Thank you Shawn for keeping it working so smoothly.
