I've also been playing around with making wings for him:

Ohhh... I like your method and design for this! Now if you put a hinge between the two not only could they move forward and back (might be up and down once mounted) but also flap up and down (forward and back once mounted).  Hopefully you get what I mean.  

BTW  Brass fastner or brass paper brads is what I've always called them.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass_fastener

That's a really  intelligent design! Full marks! It seems to work really well. I was just wondering  how the skin-wing membrane will go on it. Let us know how you get on.

ok...Tripod to free hands up... flap the wing thing   Do you think you will rig a cable system to be able to operate it on the puppet? Its got me intrigued

Hi Pagestep007, I'm using a Blackberry Playbook so I can't use a tripod, I do have a music sheet stand that I can try next time though, it would be nice to have wires to operate the wings, I'm going to try to put a hinge between the wings today like Shawn suggested and see how that goes, thanks for watching

Brilliant idea!  You should see some of the contraptions I've come up with in the past to hold "cameras".
