Re: Little Steve, trying to use as much reclaimed stuff as possible Posted by Carlos Guarda de Cadeia on Aug 24, 2012
Little Steve's head needs a body to, so after looking for useble things I found a...
A 5 liter waterbottle. The bottom is cut out and moulded back up side down....but under an angle...so he's getting a bit af a but.
Now there's room to place his upperlegs. Found some aluminium tubes that came frome a showercurtain...and cut the in half under 45 degrees.
Used some cord and tape, and moulded them together again. Put some old Tube-isolation around it...
..and Little Steve got his legs. His knees are supported with.....some of the strechfabric.....
to secure the distance and..keep the knees flexible. A little peace of wood, moulded between......
...his legs makes it a bit stronger. For now it's just a plastic 5-liter waterbottle on legs.

Well, did some work on Little Steve again....it's amazing how much stuff there's laying aroud that you can re-use.
Just 2 - one liter - plastic bottles....from wich we cut of...the tops like this..
...so they will combine easy. Just some old bolt...connected to..the screw-top of the "bodybottle"..
...and that gives Little Steve....his schoulders. A lid of an instant-coffie jar...
...cut in half and mounted on...some old hat-rack parts....will be his upper arms.
Arms connected to his shouders....with just some string and a plastic tube. The under arms connected with some wire..makes his body almost complete.

With all the ingenuity that is going into this guy it is going to be a shame to see it covered up with cloths.

Well yes, soon there will be nothing left of all that reclaimed stuff. Little Steve will look (hopefully) a little look-a-like from big Steve. But... for a festival next spring, I will make a marionette completely transparant. Now in the process of thinking out a name and such for a puppet to teach children how to reclaim materials and not throwing away their empty limonadebottles etc. I'll get you'll thru that process - picture by picture - to. (If you want me to, thats is....)

Very clever, I'm thinking about what stuff I can upcycle into puppet material now! The cap is excellent.

Little Steve's hands....
Some electic parts that were laying around...wil be converted into his hands. Now its just a matter of sculpting....
....around the steelwire.....left and right....with different functions.
So...I cut it of, before the old watercooker got its perminent place at the recyclingplant. It didn't matter, it wasn't that hotheaded anymore lately....
Stripping.........and covering the wire.......
Leftover self-adhesive isolationfoam is great......to fill up the missing parts
Some tape......did the rest. Some paint just to make it look better....
The same strechfabric from Little Steve's head...is used to make some gloves.
Although very difficult to stitch together...after some (°-°)Grr & Shh**(°<>°) and ah(^±^)oh......the result is OK...
maybe I'll paint them, maybe not....
