Love him. He looks so thoughtful- have you ever designed a tiger with glases? Or an old, storyready lion?

He  was originally designed as a lion but I changed my mind.     Actually his design was inspired by 'Theo' from 'Between the Lions'  He will be a storytelling tiger though.

I have coyote puppet in the planning stages that will tell native american folktales.

Wow , cool. Excellent airbrushing. Did you have to trim the  fur to get the  different lengths, or did you use different lengths of furry fabric?.. and  the  eyes...  what trigger mechanism did you do? They look pretty amazing.

Thanks!  The airbrushing was the fun part and worked better then expected.  The nice thing about tiger stripes is there's no such thing as a wrong pattern.  =)

The furs are different types of faux fur fabric,  I get the fur from a local fabric store in San Francisco (www.mendels.com) The longer fur is called 'Punky Muppet'  and the shorter fur is called 'super seal'.  I did a little trimming of the longer fur in some areas to blend.

The eye mechanism was made from scratch using 10 gauge wire and polystyrene.  I have images breaking down the eye parts on my blog at www.furville.com.  If you have any questions feel free to ask!

I plan to have demos of all my newer puppets on YT eventually,  actually working on a demo for Dmitri this weekend and hope to have that up this week.

Probably be a few months before the coyote puppet is done;  there are a number of projects ahead of him.
The puppet I'm working on now is a hyena named 'Crunch', he's from Brooklyn NY and has...attitude.

Actually I have two questions.

First do you layer anything under you duct tape before you put it on the foam to create your fabric pattern or does it release easily without anything?

Second, I was wondering if you could do a video of how the eye mech works. May be too late at this point since it is already in the head.  I having some difficulty seeing how it works.  I am thinking your control bar is hinged in the center. At the point where it ties into the inner sides of the lids, is that static or also hinged?  In my mind that would need to be a static connection so it would rotate the eyelids.  This ties into your control pole somehow right?

He really is a great puppet!
