So, my wife, who has shown no interest in the puppetry other than liking it being safer than my other hobbies (I broke a finger last night...) and I were in the car the other day.  We were listening to a Muppets CD and she started doing the puppet motions to Mah-na-ma-na.  Then another song came on and she did one character while I did the other (much to the amusement of the people in the car next to us).  So, I think she needs a puppet. 

I started the pattern using the "round Bashful Head" pattern.  Fleece glued on but needs stitching.  Nose is just scraps stuffed into a ball inside fabric, tied off and glued. 



For the hair, I told her to find me some yarn she thought would look good with the head for a girl.  So she picked the hair out for her puppet without knowing. 



I wrapped it around a book, tied it in small clumps, then glued the knot to hold it all together.  Now its just needing placed on the head after I stitch the head.  Not sure if this is the best method or not, but we'll see...

So far so good! can't wait see the finished product. Sounds like your wife is in puppet denial. Watch her closely I think she may have a touch of puppet fever.

any tips on lips??

How much stretch is there in the orange fabric? Can you pull down and around the upper lip a bit more stitching it a bit further in on the red that may clean that line up a bit. If not cut out a pair of lips upper and lower out of something like felt and apply them on top or that line wrapping them just a little bit.

I had run out of the foam I usually use for the mouth plate.  So I used poster board on this.  That let me crumple it so the mouth sits lower and it really cleaned up the lips.

Added the body as well.

She is "shaping" up!
