Asking for advice for a pirate party... Posted by cristina1984 on Aug 23, 2012
Hey guys, this time I come to you to ask you for advice. Next December I will celebrate the fourth birthday of my daughter Elsa and I'm starting to prepare a pirate-themed party, for what that like both boys and girls, and raised me to start some kind of project related to the puppets for that day.

What you think of??
one puppet of a parrot?
one of a skeleton puppet? perhaps a crocodile?

something to body size, type costume?
will take advantage of the puppet Jack Sparrow that I have, except that by a better idea.

Thank you all!
regards

Cristina

Well, you could call the party..."Puppets of the Carrabean". You say you have a Jack Sparrow puppet, well, have all the kids be his crew. Buy bandanas and tie one on each guest's head, pirate style. Make some sock puppet basic bodies (like Muppet anything puppets), have a lot of accessories and allow each guest to make up his own crew member puppet. They could then take their puppet home as a party favor. Decorate the room with pirate flags and treasure chests. You can do A LOT with this theme and 4 year olds can get into it.

This doesn't really involve puppets right off the bat, but a place where I used to work had a "Pirate Academy."  Kids would take  lessons on how to talk like a pirate, walk like a pirate, etc., and then they would get dressed up like pirates.  It wasn't anything fancy...a bandana on their head, a make-up beard, an eye patch.  Then they would work together with a giant map to find the treasure.  Oh, maybe that's the birthday cake shaped like a treasure chest.  Perhaps your Jack Sparrow puppet could assist your with pirate lessons?

Another fun project for the kids would be to make parrot sock puppets at the party.

Just some thoughts....

Halloween is a good time to find pirate themed party supplies like spider webbing, pirate hats, pirate swords, and costuming at dollar stores and also after holiday retail sales.
