Question about fabric Posted by Rcdspoon on Aug 31, 2012
Hey PnS,

Does anybody know where i can get or create a fabric that looks like Godzilla's skin?
The internets have not been help full. This is not for sale or profit, this is for personal possibly halloween use only. So trademark or copyright should (hopefully) not be an issue. Not looking for latex, foam or silicon... I just want fabric. So if anybody has any suggestions or ideas please let me know.

Thank you in advance... and stay thristy my friends!!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Spoon

Well I went hunting for Godzilla Lycra Fabric and the first thing that came up was this. http://www.milanoo.com/search/ClassId-0-keyword-godzilla+suit.html  I have not been through them all but perhaps there is one that would work.  Granted these are body suits but for the prices I was seeing you the yardage would most likely cost you the same.  I'll keep looking. I think the best bet is going to be a lycra or spandex fabric. These seem to be the ones they do in prints like this the most.

P.S. You might not want to view this site with your kids looking over you shoulder.  Some of the images are kind of like looking at a Fredrick's of Hollywood catalog.

Ok give this google search a review. Google Search: faux lizard skin fabric  Since I am not sure what Godzilla skin looks like I figured this would be the better way to go.  Seems to be quite a few fake leather textures out there. They may be a bit more stiff though then a lycra or spandex.

How realistic are you shooting for?  For my dragon fursuit, I am using this: http://www.joann.com/blizzard-fleece-fabric-green-tie-dye/zprd_09439167a/ .  But I want it kid friendly so it doesn't have to be 'realistic'.

Found this fabric at fabric.com it is a jersey knit black/white and gray. Would look neat if you could dye the white background a mossy green color. Only $5.58 a yard to.

I know someone who bought a '62 suit at a convention years ago in Chicago. It was a body suit with foam pieces over it to make the shape, the builder then cut 1" strips of foam in different lengths and glued them to the outside of the suit, Then it was painted in two shades of green.

It looked great when it was completed, and it still stands in his garage today...
