Anyone know of a supplier for 50mm Ping (Beer) Pong Balls? Posted by Animal31 on Sep 06, 2012
Hi - I'm wondering if anyone may know of a source to find 50mm ping pong balls? You wouldn't think it would be difficult to find, but it really is. I have been waiting for my order from my current supplier since the beginning of August, and now the website states they are down for maintainence until 9/10! I have enough for now, but I do not want to have to go thru this again, I need a backup....

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Yeah, that's them, one of three business names they go by. I've been trying to reach them since Aug 8, finally got someone on the phone who said they were shipping them, when they never arrived I tried back for 2 weeks straight until they took the website down for maintainance while they were away. But it also states all orders were shipped, and I still haven't seen mine.....

I just can't believe they are the only ones anywhere who sells them.....

Have you tried smooth foam Styrofoam as a alternative, Here is a good company you can order 12 of different sizes to try them out. I would say a 50 mm ball is a bit shy of 2 inches.(1.965 to be exact)

I would think the smoothfoam balls would hold up better then ping pong balls in the long run. Granted sometimes there is still some visual sections/lines that can be seen in the smoothfoam but I would think that a couple coats of gesso and then a coat of paint would take care of that. Could even put a thin layer of tissue paper mache' on them.

I need something in plastic, these are for resale and I need something that will hold up. Styrofoam chips and nicks, and paper mache' I would guess would crack in time...

Well a thin layer of paper mache' is not going to crack any more then a ping pong ball.  In fact over a smoothfoam strofoam it may even hold up better.  The smoothfoam stryofoam balls are a lot denser and sturdier then normal styro balls.
