New puppet project with step-by-step pictures Posted by ArthurS on Sep 19, 2012
I had the pleasure of sitting down with puppeteer, hypnotist, magician, character artist, female impersonator animal trainer, theme park consultant, etc, Steve Daly last night.  While telling us many fascinating stories, he showed us a different technique on puppet making.  I am giving it a shot and trying to capture it in pictures with instructions.  But, I am not done with the head and have nearly 30 pictures!

So, instead of posting them all here and making it take forever.  I started a blog and have them posted there.  You can see it here:

I am going to meet again with Steve in about a week, who is going to show us how to finish this up and do it in latex instead of foam.  But here is a teaser pic with how he stands now:

I'm very excited and a week is going to be forever!!!  Meanwhile, I think I am going to use this method to start a new dragon puppet!

It certainly works. Any thought of  cloth covering it?

The gentleman teaching us swears by latex as opposed to fabric.  I'm very interested to see how that comes out.

Very interesting!  I'll comment on your blog too.  I love the character he has already!

I must say that is one varied list of accomplishments that Steve Daly has. So pleased you decided to take us along on this journey. Really liking the puppets shape and form.

Yes ArthurS, latex would work well... and then there is silicone... I don't think anyone has thought of that yet....I am chewing over a tutorial on that one to introduce the technique.

So you have to be careful regarding oil and sunlight, right?

And since I simply cannot sit still... I used the same techniques to start a dragon.  Horns and a few things to add tomorrow, but...
