Hi Guys, another episode recorded and edited, but its a bit of a secret because it's going on a DVD. Maybe we might  give you a sneak preview later...in the meantime a test using free software, 'Blender' to do a key.

I really want to like this - it's always fun to watch puppetry in Spanish - but the racial caricature that's been done with that chef's puppet is...muy lamentable (por decirlo educadamente).

Oh dear Andrew, Have we offended?
Re: Porque Oramos Posted by Andrew on Mar 13, 2014
I do think it's rather unfortunate to present an Asian character like that. Most of the most of the people of Chinese origin I've ever known would be either hurt, angry or offended by the whole slanted eyes look with the sing-song accent and bowing. I really do think that's horribly condescending.

It harkens back to old racist attitudes that portrayed Chinese people as silly, child-like and inferior to people of other nationalities and perpetuates a lot of stereotypes. Don't you think?

Don't take my word for it. Show this to a lot of strangers of Chinese origin. Ask them for their opinion on it.

My post to this thread don't seem to be uploading....  but here is a short behind the scenes . See if the  system is working.
Re: Porque Oramos Posted by pagestep007 on Oct 31, 2016
We have just finished  filming 4 episodes of Porque Oramos... and are editing them out... and they will likely be the last in the series, which ended up about a hundred all told.
A few years ago we filmed onto tape, and my son borrowed the camera to film a concert...unfortunately the tape I gave him had these 4 episodes .. and they were recorded over.  So, we decided that we would recoup those scripts and redo them, This time in HD. I am pleased to see the improvement in technique, and our main puppeteer, Francisco, also used these as editing learning projects. He did a good job. (yay someone else in editing to help !)

We have also just finished a half hour project on sales techniques. A first for us as a paid project. We were two days in three shops filming, all to the great interest of the staff and public. The audio recording setup died, but we used a cel phone which yeilded good results. We did do a lot of audio replacing (RDA) due to ambient noise in the shop, which was a good experience (puppets lip sinc so much better than people) and ...clients are happy, we are happy, and looking forward to doing some more.  ... next one a short clip on  recycling.

Hi all,   I thought I would wrap up this thread... after several years of on and off filming, and having a great time, and learning lots, I have decided to end production of this series. We have other things to work on (puppet of course), and we got more mileage out of the series than I thought we would. We did in the end, 76  episodes and another 20 under the ownership of a TV channel here in Colombia, plus a few bits and pieces here and there. Right now the final twenty or thirty episodes are getting prepped for satellite transmission for a final run around the globe . The idea for the program came as a systems test, but just kept going, and I was thrilled with  the distance it went. I moth balled it several times, but took it out again when people interested in it encouraged me to. There does not seem to be anyone around right now interested in continuing with it, so, it is closed. (Mind you, the set is now neatly packed away in the attic... ) It was fitting I think, that the final episode I edited was this one below. We had a great,  great ride ... but now onto other things puppet. I am grateful that over the years we  have had the  opportunity to learn, to improve technique in all areas, and we are  pleased with where we are at from a technical point of view. It  would be  nice to actually get paid for it, but it  was all great fun.  So....Erica says it well: (oh, forgot..it's in Spanish - should have put subtitles for you...) Her  best friend is moving away, but they will  not  forget each other, and one day, they will see each other again in heaven.

I really do need to learn Spanish.   Great set, editing and manipulation! 76 episodes is a very respectable run.
