Went to a LIPA protest here in Oceanside yesterday Posted by Steve on Nov 10, 2012
We have had no power for 2 weeks now. I live in one of the worst pasts of Hurricane Sandys rampage.

Went as Wolfun and posed with people, heckled some politicians doing nothing.. a good ole time.

Need to finish the lower half now.. Not liking the half-man / half-wolf look that I originally chose to do.. I do have nice clawed feet on though just not in the pic

Guess it's time to re-open my Wolfun thread with some new updates as I build the lower half.

Steve,
Sorry to hear you are still in the dark. Hope they can get your area up and running soon. I see news programs on the devastation and it is hard to imagine having to live in such conditions. I can only hope that this will change how things are built and done in the future.

Right now I am in Nashville working at the Grand Old Opry. Folks may not remember but a few year back this area was under flood waters.  The area is pretty well back up and running now but I see signs of construction everywhere that is to try and keep the same thing from happening again. The Opry itself has a sort of flood wall around it that is being built and a lot of grading and natural berms being created that I am sure are intended to divert water and protect at least the building itself.

Let's hope that they even once they get things back to "normal" that they continue to evaluate what happened and make changes. I think the biggest thing that needs to be looked at is how they deliver power to areas and homes.  Let's face it if you string a bunch of lines up on poles they are going to be taken down by a storm.  A lot of new communities bury the cables now which may be an alternative but then you have to wonder if those lines get flooded with water underground what would happen.

Maybe your guy could have just the lower half of his legs in fur and then wear shorts.

You may need to make the furry pants to stay warm, if they don't get the power on soon, come visit us in Texas it is still warm here.

I feel for ya!  We went through all that with Hurricane Ike, and years before with Alicia.  Our subdivision was without power for over a month (only 2 houses were not flooded). Those neighbors could stay in their homes, but had no power, and it was so hot.  Thankfully we had an available apartment nearby and they had the power on there in about a week. The biggest problem I saw... the Fed, state, etc., really do not have a plan to deal with a disaster such as this.  You would think after Katrina and Rita one would have been put in place.  All I can tell that happened is they decided none of us would receive anywhere near the benefits New Orleans did. Four years later there are still homes in Galveston and on the mainland that people left and have never been able to restore. The fed would say one thing about rebuilding, restoration, the state said something different and the city disagreed with both!  In our area we were told we had to raise our homes at least 3' (all homes were on slabs). The insurance would not pay to do that. Plus in our subdivision all homes had to be single level homes according to deed restrictions.  We spent months trying to get some decision made on that.    Those with no insurance seemed to fair better than those of us that paid through the nose for expensive flood and windstorm insurance. Many of them have received brand new homes. There is no rhyme or reason to it at all.  Church and civic organizations helped much more than Fema.  Hopefully they will figure this out soon and get power on and help headed your way.
