Oh no Elmo!! Posted by Steve on Nov 20, 2012
Kevin Clash stepped down today as a second person alleges abuse when he was 15 and has opened a lawsuit against him.

terrible shame, no idea what's true or not but bad enough to even be close to that kind of situation one would think..

Curious what everyone here thinks as well.

Started following last week after the first accuser. After he recanted I hoped it was over, but it's not looking good now. I'm not going to pass judgment, I will just wait and see what happens.
I know there is another guy who has done Elmo, I hope they just press on and not let this shut the character down.

I agree I hope Sesame Street can continue and with Elmo. It is such an unfortunate thing that is happening I only hope that Elmo's image isn't tarnished by the media

It was the only right thing to do for Kevin. Allegations like that, be they true or false, never leave you. And he is in a very public forum and is performing one of the most innocent muppets ever. That would only hurt the image of Sesame Street. I don't think it is true and think that this other person who came forth is only trying to jump on the bandwagon and maybe get a settlement out if it. Something that might have happened behind the scenes of the other one. We don't know... I wouldn't be surprised, let's put it this way.

I have no way of evaluating what Mr. Clash's behavior might have been. I enjoy the puppetry on Sesame Street, even if I am not much of a fan of the show itself. Elmo is certainly a cute, and highly profitable character for Children's Television Workshop, so I doubt they would retire a cash source like that.

I guess they have enough footage filmed til 2014. I see them getting a replacement puppeteer and maybe Elmo will kind of pass the spotlight on to another character. Kind of what happened when Elmo broke out

I guess there are a few understudies for each puppet in place "just in case", John Kennedy was mentioned... I don't think the issue will so much be in front of the camera with a script where Elmo is concerned as much as personal appearances. Kevin's live imprompt personality with Elmo is something I'm really going to miss...
