Love it.  What are the braces made from?
Re: Eight Eyes Posted by yalaurie on Mar 07, 2013
Thanks! This picture was before I picked all the seams so he isn't quite done, but getting there.

The braces are made out of the model magic clay. I just formed the shape and painted it with a silver acrylic paint. Once it was dry I took a pin and made holes through them and strung jewelry wire through it. I had to double up on the wire because it wasn't thick enough. In hind-site I would find a heavier gauge.

That's fabulous! Nice use of colours as well, the detail in the braces is brilliant. Is he called eighteyes?

Yeah I have been calling him Eight Eyes but I am not sure that will be his final name. We'll see!

Cool!  Looks like he would have lots of arguments with himself. How do you keep his glasses on?. I have had problems  with that in the past. How are you going to use him? He looks like  he'll be fun.
Re: Eight Eyes Posted by yalaurie on Mar 08, 2013
To keep his glasses on, I ultimately have them glued. However, the ears are hiding a wooden dowel that is going through his head. It gives the glasses something hard to rest on. I glued the ear pieces to the fleece and was able to hide it by the position of the ear. I also glued along the bridge of his nose. I thought about drilling a hole through the arms of the glasses and wiring them to the dowel, but the glue works.

I don't really use the puppets I make. I just like to make them. Eventually I figure something to do with them, but I am not a puppeteer. Just a goob who likes making things.
