National Puppetry Conference and more Posted by MsPuppet on Mar 15, 2013
Has anyone attended this conference in CT?  There is also a Puppet Museum in CT. Others include the Northwest Puppet Center in Seattle, WA, and the International Puppetry Museum, Pasadena, CA.  Wish I had known about the one in Seattle when we were there last year.  I am going to CA in a few weeks, and plan to check out the one in Pasadena.

This may be posted elsewhere, but I found out about the above when I was contacted by a lady who is working with teenagers in an after school program.  They are currently working on a Theater Unit and the emphasis is Puppetry.  One of the students found my web site and was able to utilize some information found there.  Part of the project requirement is that if a student finds and shares a resource, they have to contact the resource and share information with them. The student sent me a link, which I put on the blog.   Lots of good stuff here:  http://www.theaterseatstore.com/history-of-puppetry

I applied this year, but have never been. Would love to hear what anyone else has to say!

Also, MsPuppet, you will be out my way. If you are here (CA) after March 30th and want to grab coffee while you are here, let me know!

Lola, I will be in Upland/Ontario area the first part of April.  Taking our grandson to Disneyland for his birthday (his first time at Disneyland) and then to stay with my mom who is having surgery.  Not sure how long I will be there, but would love to meet up with you at some point. Planning to try to work in a day in the Garment district as well.

]Message me, and let me know when you are free. I have a show on the 6th in Burbank, but I should be albe to work around any other day.

YAY FABRIC DISTRICT! I so hope you get to go. If you get a chance, check out city fabric yelp review but read all of the reviews first. I only deal in cash at ANY of the stores down there, except Michal Levine. However, they do have a TON of fake fur. I am always ready to walk away. If they tell you something is $22, tell them you've seen the same thing online, and don't settle for more than $15/yard.

Speaking of which, if you go to Michael Levine, you should check out the loft as well. It is directly across the street on the second floor. They sell end lots of fabric by the pound, and you never know what you are going to find there. Seriously, it's like a giant garage sale. You will usually find a bunch of the fashion institute kids there, pulling fabric out of the bins. Just make sure to check for any holes/spots because you can't return anything.

Back on topic: Mr. Magliwood, fingers crossed for us both!

I do buying trips there several times a year, so have favorite stores where I shop.  Having grown up in CA, it's a fun place to go.
