I'm working on a puppet build that was rather loosely inspired by a video clip I saw some years ago... I can't remember where or who it was! Here's what I do remember... I think it was a male puppeteer discussing a puppet he'd been experimenting with. The puppet was a very simple (white?) head sculpt with a rounded knob at the neck end. The head was stuck into a handkerchief or similar cloth... It was possibly held with a rubber band... The manipulation was done by rotating and changing the your grip on the knob/handle thingy.

That's about all I remember... I like the simplicity of the puppet and the direct manipulation. Wanted to watch it again and feel a bit of that inspiration again, before I've completely finished my own puppet!

Sounds like a very cool video but it is not ringing any bells. Couldn't find anything with searching but I'll keep my eye out for it. Some times simple is the best. There is this video that while not a hanky is really a very simple puppet that is manipulated very well.

I very fun video with an extremely simple puppet (operated fabulously!)... I'm quite familiar with it. I'm almost done sculpting the puppet I'm working on, so may not see the 'inspirational' video till I'm done... It'd still be cool to see it, if anyone here can figure out what it is I saw!

That one was inspired by some props I was building for the new BlueMan Show in Vegas... An over-sized brain that expels a puff of powder out the back, thus simulating a 'brain-fart'! Fun stuff!

FOUND IT!!
At work it suddenly struck me that the cloth was actually a sock and the head was rubber banded in...
A quick Google search of sock puppet robber band head... A few clicks and empty leads until I found this:

The puppet I'm working on is much more complicated, with hinged jaw and hopefully some blinking eyes... However, it was nice to find the video/page that provided the initial inspiration!
