Dummies for beginners! Posted by Billy D. Fuller on Apr 12, 2013
I have wanted to make a ventriloquist doll for sometime. While I do not want to venture out and make one from scratch quite yet. I thought of buying a affordable kit to begin with to test myself on how difficult it would be to build one.Any suggestions?
I may start with a basic head on a stick or modify a existing vinyl doll and convert it into a vent doll just to get the feel of things before investing in a kit..............any ideas?

Ahem... who else but me would have a whole bunch of bookmarks on the subject

I'm sure I have some more tucked away somewhere but that's a start. Highly recommend Al Stevens, as he shows a pictorial step-by-step with instructions, of using pre-made parts (from Puppets and Props I believe) to create a puppet.

Great links you guys! Some really good information there.
I am intrigued by your idea to take an existing vinyl doll head and convert it to a vent dummy. In fact I wonder if you could use the Controller 2T/3T for that. http://www.braylu.com/control-stick-2t-3t-pvc/

You're welcome Billy!

If it helps any, I used a typical hand puppet with a moving mouth for starters. I personally have two Folkmanis puppets that helps me. Just thought it may help if you wanted something to practice ventriloquism without going overly pricey on a ventriloquist puppet first. Or I could have missed what you would like to do. If so, sorry about that. O//O
