Lénárt András calls them "micro-puppets" (see: http://www.mikropodium.com/index.html and http://www.mikropodium.com/mia/index.html for more info).

They're exquisite; thanks for the url.

Actually, most Westerners would call them 'bunraku', a bastardisation which refers to rod puppets. A similar question came up on Puptcrit.org, and some puppeteers prefer to call them table-top or read-rod puppets. See puptcrit Digest, Vol 89, Issue 7 from last year.

But yeah, you can usually go with whatever term the puppeteer has given them, micro-puppets work just as well probably...

That puppet is really quite cute in the video - it reminded me of the more complicated rod mechanisms used by Hobey Ford: http://www.hobeyford.com/downloads

I would call them amazing.   I've seen some other videos of this puppeteers work in the past and he really is good.  Love the fact that the size of these creations allow for performance in the palm of the hand of the audience.

These little puppets are amazing and the people manipulating them are clearly very talented. i would to know if they make these to sell as well, i would love to own the little ballerina, i think that she is a fantastic littlegem of puppetry and such a sweet thing to see, im very jealous that i dont have one to perform with, i would have such a great time!!

So what is my Puppet? If you look at my profile pic of course, its the little furry thing. But I want to know! He has long arms and legs with  Velcro on the bottoms of his hands and feet. When dormant,  his moth is wide open. And when ever I make a vine or vid with him heblooks funny when he ragdolls. I hope this info helps too!

Valo, It looks to me like a hand in mouth puppet to me.
