the fur of the alternate body Posted by Jeroen van Ooijen on May 31, 2013
I have still a problem how to use the alternate body patern for using fur.
They say that i must use 2 pieces but which one?
Or must i only sew the right and the left side and cut the fur in two peaces to lay the patern in one piece? It's difficult to understand. It's for my simple series head of the roly puppet and i made a foambody to wrab the fur around it and sew the head on top and body sleeve on bottom!Help guys

When it says use 2 pieces, it means lay the pattern down, be generous when tracing the pattern as the fur shape needs to be a little larger in order to sew it together and have it fit properly, then flip the pattern over (like in a mirror image) and trace it again, then you will have the correct amount of pieces to sew together, you will probably need to do this for all the patterns.
but remember to trace slightly larger so that when you have cut out the pieces and sewn them together, they will fit on the body correctly, also make sure you know which way the fur lies naturally so that you can get the fur to all be facing the same direction when you cut the pieces of fur fabric out, you don't want to have some bits with the fur going up and some bits with the fur going down, it will look very strange!!
I hope this answers your question.

Jeroen,
You should not need two separate right and left pieces. Lay the fur out with the back showing trace the pattern once then flip and trace again. Cut around what you traced but not up the center line. Do this for both front and back. Does that make sense? At least I think I am right about that. I could not find my copy of the Alternate body. Correct me if I am wrong jeezbo.

Will have to wait on a reply from jeezbo for that question... I can't find my copy of the pattern.

Also I just looked at their website to view the shape of the Alternate body. I think maybe you do have a separate right and left for both the front and back. Looks like the shape of the body is rounded out. So you would end up with four seams in the body fabric.
Wish I could find my copy...
