puppet eye details Posted by sentryshooter777@yahoo.co on Jun 17, 2013
I need help on constructing puppet eye bags..like the type of bags to show exhaustion or the puppet being tired in a sense. I tried rolling up some foam and sewing a little sack of fleece and gluing the foam stuffed sack under the eyes but it doesn't work for me..any suggestions?

It seems to me that the darkness under the eye stands out more to make an eye tired.  Also for older eyes there are deep lines that create folds so maybe hand stitching in curves might create the ridges if you pull stitches tight. A brown or black thicker strip along the bottom of the eye edge might give a tired effect tapering at the corners.  A few squiggly red lines on the white of the eye ball would help too. It might be wise to test ideas on some scraps first.

I would try it without any foam in it, I think the two sides of the fabric should give it enough of a puff to get the point across...

The bags under these eyes are just pieces of fleece folded over and glued.  Message ImageMessage Image

There are plenty of tutorials on how to do it, but here's one (scroll to bottom of page)

I'm guessing there are more posted if you just try using the search box.

However, if you've never done it before then you should be prepared for it not working very well the first or second - or even third - time. Even simple mechanics can be difficult to get right the first time.

Search on how to make blinking eyes on puppets.  The link I posted previously seems to only work on Iphone or Ipad.  Sorry.

The orange guy above (Giant Despair) has blinking eyes.  I used Www.drpuppet.com blinking eye tutorial.
