Pricing Posted by Forbidden Zone Puppets on Jul 02, 2013
Hey guys,
I built this puppet for a tv show and put a lot of work into it. I gave it to the guy now he wants to know how much I want for it. What do you think it's worth?Message ImageMessage Image

A good idea is to go and read the pinned thread on pricing. There's a calculator there that you can use to add up all your costs (materials, wages, etc). There's no way to know how much you should ask without also knowing how much your materials cost, how much time you spent making it, etc. The thread on pricing really goes into much more detail on various issues related to how to price a puppet.

The other thing is knowing the market pricing. Many people sell muppet-type puppets for as little as $20, but quite often the most well-known puppet makers charge upwards of $600 (USD) or more. There's a wide range, but I always felt that for something like what you've posted $20 is going to be *way* too little. A few hundred sounds reasonable to me. Your puppet looks quite professional and it's for TV - so ask what you think your time and expertise is worth, not what you think the cheapest price is to please your client.

Here is the link to the thread Na mentioned. http://puppetsandstuff.com/community/index.php/topic,846.0.html

The puppet looks professional and is very unique. Be confident that you should charge in the upper range for this puppet.
