I'm starting a puppet that will have anime style hair. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do so?

Seeing that cosplay link it made me think that perhaps the best place to ask for ideas is on a cosplay forum. Presumably making a wig for a human isn't going to be all that far off from making one for a puppet - plus, one popular anime has a puppeteer in it, so I think there may even be people who try to make their own puppets within the cosplay arena.
