Bird Squawking part Posted by Patmur on Aug 06, 2013
Hi,
I want to make some simple hand puppet birds that will squawk when their mouth is opened.  Does anyone know where I can get the "squeaker".  All I have found make a sound when depressed.  I also only want the sound in that one direction (not in and out).  Thanks

We use the "squeeker" in our off hand by mouth mic, rather than in the puppet mouth. We also took the clacker out of the cow bell on Cow neck and ring a real cow bell from back stage.  It is comical when the bell rings with a delay. How would an open mouth squeeker mechanism work since the close mouth ones squish out air to work?

I wondered about using the other hand. Not sure how it all works.  Just watching this video and trying to figure it out. You can buy these puppets but they are not big enough or blacklight. So.....just gathering info right now.

They have to be controlling the squeakers independent of mouth movement because at one point the green puppet opens his mouth and no sound is made.

PS Very cool bit!
