Hi everyone, Its really lovely to find a community of like minded puppet enthusiasts. Im a puppet maker from Australia. I have been making props and costumes for theatre for many years and have always had a fascination for puppets and puppetry. I have made a couple of puppets lately and looking to take my part time seasonal stage props work and hopefully with the addition of puppets, turn it into a dream career! Or at least to cover my 2 day a week REAL job would be nice too.

Welcome! Nice to see another Aussie here - we have another member from Adelaide too, but she's hardly around these days.

Took a look around your site. You have some really wonderful puppets there. One recommendation I have is that you should update your policies page and include some actual contact info and not just have a webform. You'd be surprised at how few people use my contact form, instead opting to email directly - back when I had a phone number listed I got lots of calls as well, moreso than email enquiries. Plus having an address makes you seem more legit in the eyes of online buyers.

Thanks for the feedback Na. The website is new and I am actually prob going to start again as I am acquiring my own domain as we speak. But I will def put that into practice when I create the new one.
Cheers Shawn, I love Gom too. It's unfortunate that he is so darn difficult to photograph because he looks way cooler in the fur. Only downside is that he takes way too long to make because of his hand cut fur spots.

My real daytime job is being a mum and working for Peter W Beck one if Australia's largest privately owned Jewellery manufacturers. I assist all our Jewellers around Australia with technical support in supply of precious metal, casting and moulding their precious metal and refining all
Their scraps back to pure to reuse or to purchase. In short a metallurgist/customer service/tech support LOL

I missed those the first go around... did you just add them? Very nice!  I've worked the national tour of Lion King and I have to say those stand up nicely to the original designs.

Thanks Shawn. How awesome to work on the National production. Unfortunatley mine are only for a local budget production but considering what I had to work with $$ wise and time frame of 8 weeks LOL I think we did ok. If I had My chance I would do it all again very differently.

Oh hey, I didn't notice your Lion King puppets the first time around - they are fabulous! Zazu is really quite amazing, not what you'd expect for a local amateur or even fringe performance. I'm going to guess that you may not have had a lot of budget, but you did put a lot of heart into it.
