I have to say I am impressed. Like you I am not really a sports person but I do enjoy watching your segments. It really is the dialogue and quick delivery that makes this interesting. Great separation in the characters voices. Sometimes the mouth synce is just a bit off but not really that often. Not sure how you manage to sync. I'm not detecting edits in video of the puppets themselves which to me means you really know the "script" when you go to film them. Do you memorize it?

I notice your IndiGoGo campaign is ended and didn't make it's mark. How is that part of the business going?

Shawn, so here's my process on these so far.  There were multiple takes in this one and I was pretty particular about where the cuts were made and that the puppets were in the right position.  Most were made when I knew I could zoom in on just Omar or just Vincent. 

The dialog is only outlined, and then I adlib each character individually, edit them together with the timing I like (often going back and re-recording a line so that it makes better sense in the final edit) and then do a mixdown of them both for a master track.

Usually when filming I loop the audio I've prerecorded back into the video. During editing, I first drop the master audio into one track, and lay down each video track and align the audio recorded during filming with the master track then use only the master audio when I do the final composite. 

THIS time, the audio settings were wrong on my laptop and each video track was recorded in SILENCE.    I didn't realize it until we had finished taping and I didn't want to tape again.  Without any reference audio, editing took forever as I had to line up each clip to the master audio by sight. 

Once the characters are in place, I go back and add the graphics to the "monitor" in the background. It all ends up looking like this:

I've always said that the editor can make or break a film or video.  I think your process really highlights this.

Oh and as for the crowd funding campaign, I may attempt it again next year.

Thanks for explaining your work flow. You do it very well. The whole process that is. We have done prerecords too, in the past. I found it was very efficient, but the puppeteers had more fun recording voice and action at the same time. But you really can do a lot with prerecords. I have done whole programs alone that way (totally necessary when noone turns up for a shoot.) We look forward to seeing more of your work.

You do it all so good.  I love both the voices and their distinct personalities, just perfect banter. We are always complaining about the football announcing during the games, you are much better.

- Back on topic, I'm not into sports so have no idea how those sports shows go, but I liked it. I know more about the gaming consoles actually, and thought that was pretty accurate and done very well. I thought the lip-sync was great and the green screen images were perfect (although some improvements needed on 'blending' as there's a grey blurring around the edges of the puppets). I really liked the product placement, which is so typical of shows nowadays. And the banter between the two hosts was very natural, and didn't feel rehearsed which made it seem more realistic. One thing that needs practice is eyeline - where the puppets are looking - as they look 'up' but not forwards at the camera. And I LOL'd at the Dexter reference!
