I would say yes, being that the locomotion is driven by a person and the movement qualities are very animatronic looking.  I couldn't watch the whole video, buffering problems, but the range of motion was so beautifully fluid for such a rigid appearing structure.  Cool find.

I saw smaller versions of these a few years ago. Truely genius ...here's more.

As I understand these creations, they are not actually manipulated by a person but by the wind. I feel for that reason they are not really puppets. They would be more like an automaton or wind up toy.  They do use elements that are used in puppetry and they are incredible creations!

Oh my goodness!  I had no idea that these were kinetic structures and independent of people.  They are incredibly beautiful to watch.  Thanks for the link Julie!

I agree with Shawn but as I was looking at each creation move I couldn't help to the think how the mechanics could be used in puppetry.

I too saw these creatures some time ago. I agree with Shawn I would say because they are not people driven they are not puppets. However they are remarkable and truly fantastic. A marvel of engineering and harnessing the power of the wind.
