I tend to agree with you AaronTV. Although I automatically mistrust big business, which Disney is, I think they are reasonable curators of the muppet legacy. They did a pretty good comeback with the last movie, in my opinion. My only questions are, how faithful to Henson ideology will they be, and what tangents are they likely to go off on?  The thing is, that basically what made the muppets and anything around it, was the chemestry-dynamics of Jim and those who worked with him. Change the people and you basically change the product. From what I have heard and read, Jim was wanting to get Disney backing. I would sumise that it was to get greater funding and distribution. After his death, no-one seemed to be able to keep things going, neither Frank Oz, key people around him, nor his family. It did take them a while, but it was passed onto Disney, so now we will see what they do with it.
I found the last muppet movie to be quite nostalgic...profoundly sad. The story was more of a disguised documentary, with our hero, Walter(Disney) touted as the great saviour (and not Kermit/Jim). As much as that smarts, one must accept love, death, and taxes, and what has happened with the muppets, as an inevitable part of life. They are back at least, and I think that is good, but it will be interesting to see what flavour they will eventually take on.

Disney is evil. But the plus side of being owned by a big evil company is that the potential lifespan of the Muppets increases dramatically (because we know Disney isn't going anywhere in a hurry). I think that the last film was pretty faithful to the feel of the Jim Henson Muppet movies. Or at least to the extent that you can be when remaking, re-booting or restarting a franchise. However I think the most un-Muppet like thing was, like you said Pagestep, the heroes of the story being Walter and Gary. From what I've see of the trailer for Muppets Most Wanted it looks like they'll be returning to Kermit/Fozzie/Piggy as the heroes.

On a small tangent: I think Disney has done a pretty good job with the franchise that it's bought recently, mainly The Muppets and Marvel. I'm just really hopeful that they can do the same with Star Wars too.
