First (vent) puppet help Posted by Mujician on Dec 13, 2013
Hi, I've posted on the forum before, but life got in the way. I want to make a couple of puppets, for ventriloquism. I know of the existence of project puppet. As I'm in the uk I wondered if anyone knows of any uk based kit retailers? Is project puppet a good place to start? Where might I find the supplies and plans in the uk to make things from scratch? Many thanks in advance.

Project Puppet sells downloadable patterns so you can always get the patterns from them and source the materials locally. I know there have been other people who have posted about UK suppliers before so do try a search on the forums as well.
I don't know of any off hand, but two good UK puppetry resources are
http://www.puppeteersuk.com/
http://www.unima.org.uk/
Both have directories of puppetry services/companies that you can search.
The other suggestion is to have a look at this book store:
http://maskandpuppetbooks.co.uk/
I've bought through them before (even though I'm in Oz) and they have been really good product/customer service wise. They usually have a wide range of books though it looks as though their site has been redone since I last looked so I can't guarantee that... but they do have "The Foam Book" on sale which is good, along with ventriloquism books. -- Note that their secondhand book shop, which I was about to recommend as well, has closed.
Most people seem to recommend and enjoy Project Puppet patterns, so I don't think you'd go wrong in buying one of those and it's probably cheaper than a book.
