Oooops! I meant to write blue hot glue GUN!

Ahh ok. Yep that could be quite a few brands. Are you thinking maybe they are better because they are using them? I bet each builder has their own preferences.

I was actually hoping that it might be less expensive than the one I just bought (3M AE II) and take accessory nozzles. I am assuming that the Henson folks provided all the tools and materials to level the field. Everyone I saw was using the same type of gun. I'm also assuming that the gun is at least halfway better! Any thoughts on what that particular gun might be?

I don't know if they have any markings.

GAH! Season finale is replaced with a rerun of last week's episode! Sad face in Toronto.

I dont know about you guys. But I feel that hot glue gun for most applications just doesnt cut it anyway! I know on the show thye have limited time to do things and for the most part there builds only need to make it through that one screen test. With me wanting to build puppets to last a long long time. Hot glue just doesnt make the grade for me. Most things that I have used it for and experiment with fall apart within a few weeks/months. Everything else I just different glues on, mainly contact glue, epoxy and superglue work and last for ever! Not to mention if client ever left their puppet in the car on a warm day would probably fall apart too!

I dislike hot glue too, but all of my puppets that I used it on - some 10 years old - still work and haven't fallen apart. Maybe it depends on what brand glue you're using?

The glue gun looks like this one http://www.dickblick.com/products/surebonder-heavy-duty-professional-80w-glue-gun/
We use http://www.walmart.com/ip/Ad-tech-Hi-Temp-Project-Pro-Mini-Size-Glue-Gun/17404366. I buy 25lbs of mini sticks from dick blick. We each have two guns. I like them because they have a long skinner tip. We keep them plugged in for 8-9 hrs a day, 5 days a week. So far they average lasting 1 1/2-3years each although quality seems to be going down with the last couple i purchased.

I like hot glue except when I get burned! I just use it here and there, not to put together an actual puppet. The hotter the stronger I have found.
