I'm a Website and game app maker Posted by bobsmo on Feb 24, 2014
Hi - I just completed a new website for  my friend's black light puppets.  We are also working on a game app based on his production of "S.C.U.B.A. - Super Cool Underwater Blacklight Adventure"

I liked the use of the parallax. A lot of websites are using them these days, but it's really fitting for the underwater theme.

Nicely done on the website! You'll have to let us know when you get the game app done. That has me intrigued.

Yep gotta say that looks "Super Cool"! Do you have a cost set on this app or is it going to be a free download?

This app will be $2 .  I don't put advertising in apps.  This app is based on the puppet and educational elements that Spyglass Theater brings to school performances.  There are some educational parts to the game that I will add . Trying to get it into schools (common core).  Most principles and teachers look for common core standards when approving this kind of supplemental education..

$2 is not too bad. So would you be willing to work with other puppet companies to develop games based on shows they do? I know some create coloring books based on shows they do and this seems like the logical variation of that.

I'm always looking to partner with creative folks !  Sure does sound like a good way to followup a puppet show with some kind of take-home.  And the game itself could be used a standalone to promote the show.  For Spyglass Theater I am releasing the game on my own "Bob Smolenski App Store" .  There are some upfront costs when setting up an app-store account.  iTunes is $100 per year. GooglePlay is $25 one-time fee.  Amazon is free.

Shawn - shoot me an email at  (removed) - We can brainstorm together.

Hmm... I've had some ideas to include an app/book, that has interactive features. I'll have to save this idea for a rainy day when there's money in the kitty. $100/year is a lot just for an unknown.

I'd love to get some insights as to the profits, long tail issues, and costs involved. If you care to share any info, please PM me. I have some minimal ideas from reading indie game sites, but getting a first-hand discussion of it would be really fascinating.
