Thanks for all the responses guys and for putting up the picture

Mini.mike - a rehersal set is such a good idea, I have learned so much doing mock up versions - I am happy with most but my Lucy The Slut was an epic fail, did her shape all wrong and she looked like she had a wrinkly neck!

Project Puppet has been a great resourse, I used Borso pattern for Trekkie Monster and enlarged it from, 100% - 122% in the photocopier settings. I have found that i often draft patterns to small and have been at Officeworks enlarging and manipulating.

The neck issue i was having may be more a puppeteer issue, we had a workshop with the puppets on the weekend and some people had trouble bringing the puppets line of focus at a good eye level, I started to think the body shape into the neck was effecting the puppeteer but some people had no problem - it may just need rehearsing.

I will post a shot of Lucy shortly, still unpacking everything from the workshop on the weekend - her body went ok, and her mouth is not to bad - its her actual jaw line where i completely lost it - she looks more like Joey Tribianni's agent from friends "Estelle" than Lucy - but on the plus I now know how to make a puppet character that has "Seen better days"

Thanks for the tips! did you use their other patterns (forma/sis for any other characters?)  I've been hunting for a torso pattern as I'm not too keen on the SS alternative body pattern

Jo, those are great puppets. I've seen a lot of people posting their Avenue Q puppets, and really yours are better than most.

There are quite a few old threads here that have information in them about body patterns. Her is one http://puppetsandstuff.com/community/index.php/topic,7595.0.html Got that from "body pattern".

hello again all - it has been a busy few weeks getting ready for full promotional photo shoot for the production of Avenue Q - Got sent some amazing resource photos from Hal and Leonard which was pretty amazing

I FINALLY solved my Lucy problem - and she is officially everyones favourite puppet

I thought I would note here where I went wrong so others can learn from it, originally I thought the Lucy shape read very similar to the "Borsa" pattern I used for Trekkie Monster, I just added a little bit of length and took a a long wedge shap out of the back that created more of the cone - ish shape

And I admit, I thought I had NAILED it - boy was I wrong!

Once I constructed a jaw shape to this shape it struggled, and Lucy became and unruley mess.

In the end I found Lucy's shape to be more of a large tear-drop and this worked amazingly!

So I finally feel I am on the right track again and that everything is coming together - here are some early stills from the photo - thanks everyone for all your responses!Message Image

Those look pretty darn fantastic if you ask me - great job on Lucy! She looks practically the same as the Rick Lyon ones I saw in the Aussie professional show a few years ago.
